TOP TIPS

The most common mistake when stenciling is applying too much paint, which can cause paint to bleed under the stencil. For crisp lines, use minimal paint. Always offload excess onto a paper towel. Your applicator should feel almost dry before applying. Avoid pressing too hard and build up paint in thin layers. Using a single light coat can help achieve a worn/rustic look.

To reduce paint bleed consider using a repositionable spray adhesive, in addition to painters tape, to ensure the stencil is held firmly to the surface.
